چکیده

Heavy metals in soil, water and air is a great concern. Toxic heavy metals ultimately affect plant, Animals, and through food chain directly influence human life. In present study, the effect of heavy metals (Cu, Zn), Nfertilizers and EDTA on growth and biomass of cannibus sativa plant was evaluated. The Cu and Zn phytoextraction potential of Cannabis sativa plant under various treatments of N-fertilizers and EDTA were investigated. Metals (Cu, Zn) significantly reduced the plant growth and biomass while the fertilizer application increased the plant growth and biomass under metals stress. The application of EDTA alone increased the metals (Cu, Zn) accumulation in root, stem and leaves but reduced the plant height, root length and biomass. The maximum accumulation of Cu in root (75 μg/g DW), stem (55 μg/g DW) and in leaves (45 μg/g DW) was found with EDTA treatment (T3). Maximum Zn concentration in Leaves (155 μg/g DW) and root (148 μg/g DW) was observed in plants treated with EDTA. Conclusively, metals contaminated soil considerably reduced plant growth and biomass while metals in combination with N-Fertilizer the plant growth and biomass was enhanced. Addition of EDTA significantly enhanced phytoaccumulation of metals (Zn, Cu). * Corresponding Author: Fazal Hadi  [email protected] International Journal of Agronomy and Agricultural Research (IJAAR) ISSN: 2223-7054 (Print) 2225-3610 (Online) http://www.innspub.net Vol. 4, No. 6, p. 85-90, 2014

Induced-phytoextraction of heavy metals from contaminated soil irrigated by industrial wastewater with Marvel of Peru (Mirabilis jalapa L.)

The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citric acid (CA) on Mirabilis jalapa L. growth and phytoextraction of heavy metals from the multi-metal contaminated soil. The results showed that the application of CA (5 and 8 mmol/kg) and EDTA (5 mmol/kg) increased plant growth, while when the concentration of EDTA was up to 8 mmol/...

Phytoextraction of lead, zinc and cadmium from soil by selected plants

The Pb, Zn and Cd phytoextraction potential of 14 different plants was assessed in a chelate induced phytoextraction experiment. In the used soil heavy metals mainly reside in carbonate, organic matter, and residual soil fractions. The addition of a chelate, 5 mmol/kg ethylenediamine-tetracetic acid (EDTA), increased the proportion of phytoavailable Pb, Zn and Cd in the soil (dissolved in soil ...

Chelate-Induced Phytoextraction of Experimentally Metal Polluted Soil, with Thlaspi Caerulescens

Heavy metal contamination of soils has become a serious problem in industrial or agricultural areas. Soils polluted with heavy metals pose a significant health risk to humans as well as plants and animals, often requiring soil remediation practices. Synthetic chelates such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) have been shown to enhance phytoextraction of some heavy metals from contaminated...

Enhanced phytoextraction of Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd with EDTA and EDDS.

Chemically enhanced phytoextraction has been proposed as an effective approach to removing heavy metals from contaminated soil through the use of high biomass plants. Using pot experiments, the effects of the application of EDTA, EDDS and citric acid on the uptake of Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd by corn (Zea mays L. cv. Nongda 108) and bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L. white bean) plants were studied. The resul...
